This is what we did it forStichting Water voor Leven te Gouda Bank 50 74 50 418, Giro 59 14 009 o.v.v. Sponsoring Team Kadettilac The Agua para Viver Foundation, or Water for Life. They support small-scale projects to improve the basic services on Cape Verde. We chose this as the destination for the funds our participation would raise due to our direct connection to this foundation: Alexandra's friend's father works for Water for Life. Since the good contacts of this foundation's chairman, mr. Spinola, with the local authorities on Fogo the foundation's activities are mostly limited to this island, which inhabits about 37.000 people. This foundation has no board of directors, nor has it a Public Relations department. This is one of the reasons we chose this foundation: Concrete plans, direct results and no fund money devouring organization. This foundation has obtained proven results in the past in building the elementary services (autonomous water supply on the islands that are frequently suffering droughts), once this had been accomplished they have continued their constructive work. Elementary schools have been opened and enlarged, secondary education is the next step while maintaining the already built services isn't forgotten. Water for Life is well worth our (and your) support! |
